Leaving Seward and the Kenai Peninsula this morning in 13C partial cloud weather. We stopped at the entrance to one of the trails in the National Park for Michael to have his photo taken. (When you see the picture you’ll know why we had to stop.)
The Seward Hwy hugs the shore of the Turnagain Arm travelling down one side, around the end and back up the opposite shore. The views are astounding, but heavy traffic makes it difficult to slow down to appreciate the scenery.
Sometimes, in the truck, odd photos are taken inadvertently while moving the phone! This one shows the cover of the book that has become a sort of 'travel bible' for us in our travels through Alaska and northwestern Canada! (photo)
Michael had noticed that one of the trailer tires was wearing badly, so we decided to go to Costco to see if they could find a replacement. Unfortunately they don’t deal in trailer tires, but the helpful clerk suggestion a local business she thought could help us. It was already afternoon, but we called TrailerCraft and they said they had what we needed and could install it for us today.
We made good use of the time spent waiting for the tire installation by posting several blog entries (which we hope you enjoyed). We next went to get the truck and trailer washed. Over $30.00 to get enough time and water to get the two cleaned. And lots of exertion on our part. But a satisfying outcome.
Camping tonight in the city of Anchorage-run Centennial Campground. It was a fairly ordinary site with small spaces but enough trees to offer some privacy. After a tasty supper of grilled pork chops, we were mentally tired from blogging and physically tired from vehicle cleaning. It made for a good night's sleep.
